Cymbals with cut-out cracks or with "stop-drilled" cracks will often crack again.
The best thing is to make the cymbal smaller so the cracks are gone and the cymbal is again round.
The problem is that a cut down cymbal will often sound very ugly.This is because the shape and the tension aren't correct any more.
So whenever people ask me to cut down cracked cymbals, I always rehammer them into proper shape, tension and sound.
You will of course never get the same sound as the original, but it is often possible to make a new and very good cymbal. With the same durability as a new cymbal.
