"Born in San Francisco, CA to a musical family, there was never a day when Ede didnt hear either classical piano from his mother, or Jazz saxophone from his father. At the age of 7 his family moved to Tampa FL where by random chance Ede received his first guitar. I remember as a kid running through the empty house my family was moving into. As I was exploring the house I herd my sister say hey look what I found It was an old guitar someone had left in a closet. I hadnt thought about playing the guitar up to that point but I found myself drawn to it every time my sister wasnt around. It soon became evident to everyone that the guitar was destined for me and Ive been fascinated with it ever since.
After school Ede moved to Atlanta in 1989, the scene was thriving with energy and gave Ede great opportunities work on projects for many diverse artists, such as Destinys Child, Mya, Ceelo, India Arie, Gumbi Ortiz, K.D. Lang, David Sanborn, Euge Groove, Ptaah, Anne Nesbee, Kaya, Bebl Gilberto, and Everything But the Girl. Ede has also worked as a sideman touring with jazz vocalist Lizz Wright, experimental electronic group Ananda Project, and Grammy nominated jazz trumpeter Russell Gunn. These performances opened the world stage to him, with concerts in the UK, France, Belgum, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Israel, Japan, Portugal, Germany, and Luxembourg.
Weather touring the world as a sideman, working in the studio, or teaching guitar, Ede always brings a fresh sound and viewpoint to the music. This sound will soon be heard on Edes second self produced CD titled Gravity, on his own independent label Without Wings Music LLC. The music on Gravity Ede says is world jazz, with influences ranging from Afro Cuban, Indian Classical, Electronic, and Rock, all wrapped in the rich tradition of jazz. So keep your eyes and ears open for new music from Ede Wright February 2007 Ede is one of the brightest lights in the world music scene with a sound and vision truly his own. Guitarist, composer, producer, songwriter, Ede Wright has become the first call session guitarist for top producers in the Atlanta music scene, including Dent, Phil Tan, Shekspear, Avery Johnson, Travon Potts and Shaggy. His ability to move in and out of virtually any musical style from Hip Hop, House, Jazz, Bossa Nova, Country, Rock, Latin or Asian has made him the go-to-guy for a broadening range of innovative and influential artists.

At the age of 10 his family moved to Tampa, FL where Ede received his first guitar. It was originally meant for my sister but I simply refused to stop playing it when she wasnt around. It soon became evident that guitar was for me.
Ede studied classical guitar for five years under Bill Edwards in Tampa. After briefly attending the University of South Florida on a music scholarship, Ede was so much in demand as a player that he left school to tour and see what the road was all about.
Ede toured with Master Afro-Cuban Percussionist, Gumbi Ortiz with whom he made his first CD, The Gumbi Band, Imagine That. Playing with Gumbi changed me because it was my first opportunity to play with a master level musician. Gumbi played with Chic Corea, Al DiMieola and Miles Davis. After meeting and working with him I completely devoted my life to music.
After moving to Atlanta, GA in 1989 things took off. Ede hooked up with R&B singer Laurnea by 1994 and toured in America and Europe. He also made a video with her that aired on MTV, BET and VH1 and made television appearances on The Vibe Show and BET.
Being in Atlanta has brought some great projects his way. In the studio, Ede has worked on projects for many diverse artists, such as Destinys Child, Mya, Ceelo, India Arie, K.D. Lang, Euge Groove, Russell Gunn, Ananda Project, Ptaah, Anne Nesbee, Kaya, Bebl Gilberto, Trina Broussard, and Everything But the Girl.
Edes truest passion now takes shape in his first CD as a leader titled, Ede Wright, Gravity Free, being released on his own label, Without Wings Music, LLC. The music is a fusion of musical styles - House, Latin, Asian, Funk, Electronic and Ambient but firmly rooted in the harmony of Jazz. The CD was written and produced by Ede and he plays acoustic and electric guitars, bass, percussion and programming. In addition, Ede brought in many talented musicians from across the Atlanta music scene to bring his vision to life.
