James Hetfield Signature EMG Pick-Ups

If you're a guitar player, you just might want to check out the newly released JH Signature EMG pick-ups, which James debuted at the Big 4 show in Indio, CA on April 23. The design was driven solely with the input of James, who was looking to create a "stealth"; looking set that captures the clarity and punch of a passive pickup and still retains the legendary active tone.

For those of you who like tech-talk, the new pick-ups feature sleek black nickel plated caps and EMG's Solderless Installation System components and the JH Set consists of the JH-N (neck) and the JH-B (bridge). Both pickups were patterned after the pickups James has used for 30 years but the end result was a completely different animal. The JH-N has individual ceramic poles and bobbins that feature a larger core and are taller than the 60. This produces more attack, higher output, and fuller low end in the neck position. The JH-B uses the same type of core but has steel pole pieces, unlike the 81 that uses bar magnets. This produces the familiar tight attack with less inductance for a cleaner low end.

Es war ja eigentlich klar, dass auch mal James dran ist, nach Kerry King, Zakk Wylde und Alexi Laiho...
Auf jeden Fall cool, dass es nicht wie gesagt einer wird, den es schon gab und wo nur JH draufsteht (hm... ZW xD)
Die "klassischen" EMGs gefallen mir allerdings vom Äußerlichen her besser...

Gespannt sein darf man schon mal

Ich finde auch, dass dieses Set das erste "richtige" Signature Set ist. Alles andere war bis jetzt ja meistens nur zusammengeschusterte Stangenware (Bsp.: ZW-Set).
Wenn das ganze dann noch anders klingt, ist es auf jeden Fall eine Bereicherung..

Man mag ja zu Hetfield stehen wie man will, er geht auf jeden Fall mal neue Wege mit dem Set ( ebenso wie mit seiner neuen Snakebyte Signature).

Komisch, für mich standen eher aktive Pickups für einen klaren Sound und passive für einen punchigen, "Wall of Sound"-Sound. Bin mal gespannt wie die Teile werden, der Look gefällt mir schonmal sehr gut.

Ich bin eher gespannt wie viele Threads kommen werden mit Titeln wie "Ich habe die James Hetfield Signature EMGs gekauft, aber klinge IMMER NOCH nicht nach Metallica, was tun?"…

Wenn man sich die Fotos auf Metallicas Facebook-Seite anschaut, scheint Jaymz seine Pickups zu nutzen, zumindest die Abdeckungen.

Warum auch nicht? Die Dinger wurden nach seinen Wünschen entwickelt und er braucht sie nicht mal selber einbauen? Wieso sollte er also nur Kappen benutzen?

In Gelsenkirchen waren die Dinger in jeder Hetfield Gitarre verbaut. Selbst die Truckster war umgerüstet...
