So, hier mal ein englischer Text von mir, den ich irgendwann in naher Zukunft für ein Black Metal-Lied verwenden will.
Kritik oder andere Kommentare sind natürlich erwünscht.


In search of the giant's grave

Late november, long ago -
an unknown man fell through the woods
and the bitter winter's snow
covered each and every tree.

The wanderer was starving, stumbling
desperatly through the cold,
in his head were voices, mumbling,
by them he had his fortune told -
still the man kept walking, tumbling.

He hoped to be on target soon
but winter made his courage fall
and the man, he followed suit.

And as he looked up one last time,
through the grey and misty fog,
he saw the stone that bore the words:
'Dignity lies rotting here'

Deinen Text finde ich stimmig formuliert, genre-passend so weit ich das beurteilen kann, wohlgesetzt mit gutem Fluß.
Insgesamt scheint er mir zu kurz oder ich kann es vielleicht so formulieren: es wird - weitgehend unausgesprochen - an die Legende eines giants angekündigt, auf dessen Suche sich das lyrische Ich macht. Aber warum? Was sucht er dort zu finden - wofür steht der giant? Die aktuelle Situation des LI ist durchaus ersichtlich und wird bestärkt durch die Naturbeschreibung, die ja die Atmosphäre, in dem sich das abspielt und als Spiegel des Inneren des LI.
Aber mir bleibt zu viel unausgefüllt, nur angedeutet. So finde ich das Ende stimmig und sie enthält eine Botschaft für das LI und den Leser. Aber ich vermisse etwas das Ausfüllen des Spannungsbogens, der für mich durch das Ausleuchten oder das nähere nachvollziehbare Erklären der Motive, des Umfelds, der Legende, wichtiger biografischer Momente des LI entstehen könnte.

Das kommt mir etwas zu kurz - Dramatik, Höhen und Tiefen, das Übergeordnete: der Punkt an dem jeder Leser auch auf der Suche sein könnte und für den das LI stellvertretend die Reise antritt.
Für mich also ein guter Text, bei dem noch etwas fehlt, um "wow" zu sagen ...

Ein paar Bemerkungen zum Text selbst:

fell through the woods - habe zuerst an ein abstürzendes Raumschiff gedacht ... was möchtest Du damit ausdrücken?
and the bitter winter's snow
covered each and every tree.
vielleicht hier auch schon Naturbeschreibung, innere Stimmung und Dramatik einflechten: covered each tree and every hope oder sowas ...

The wanderer was starving, stumbling
desperatly through the cold,
in his head were voices, mumbling,
by them he had his fortune told -
von Ihnen wurde sein Schicksal geweissagt? to him his fortune they had told, imho - irgendwie sowas
still the man kept walking, tumbling.

He hoped to be on target soon
was willst Du damit sagen?
but winter made his courage fall
sink, fade ...
and the man, he followed suit.
was soll he followed suit heißen?

And as he looked up one last time,
through the grey and misty fog,
he saw the stone that bore the words:
'Dignity lies rotting here'

ist es Zufall, dass die dritte Strophe nur drei Zeilen enthält?
