02.01.2016
All eyes on the House of Stathopoulo at Annual Trade Event
The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) show in Anaheim, California has been an annual tradition since 1919 and over the decades, Epiphone has never failed to make a big impression whether it was introducing electric instruments in 1939, ES-style models like the Casino in the early 60s, or last year's unveiling of the Ltd. Ed. Tommy Thayer "White Lightning" Les Paul Outfit. And as usual, this year Epiphone's exhibition area was never without a crowd.
The NAMM show gives dealers and retailers a sneak peak at new and innovative instruments like the PRO-1 Collection as well as Artist Signature Models like the Ltd. Ed. Tony Iommi SG Custom which last year had fans lining up around the building.
Here are some of Epiphone's highlights from this year's NAMM Show:
The Critics Speak!
"Epiphone nails it!"

Guitar World also singled out the Tamio Okuda Coronet with its prestigious Gold Award saying it "nailed the authentic feel and vibe of a vintage Epiphone."
Guitar Player loved the Ltd. Ed. Joe Bonamassa Les Paul with Bigsby® calling it "flawless" in their new February 2016 Editor's Pick Award. Lee Malia of Bring Me the Horizon got the attention of Guitar & Bass who gave his Ltd. Ed. Lee Malia Les Paul Custom the 2015 Gear of the Year Award. And last but not least, the February 2016 issue of Vintage Guitar praises the new Sheraton II PRO as "buttery" with "tone -- and style and build quality -- that you get for the price is hard to believe."

Epiphone Ltd. Ed. ES-295 Premium
02.01.2016
The Rock N' Roll Classic is back with Gibson® USA Dogear P-90 pickups
Epiphone proudly presents the new Ltd. Ed. ES-295 Premium, one of the most iconic guitars in rock history now in three unique color finishes--Metallic Gold, Walnut, and Wine Red and featuring Gibson® USA Dogear P-90 pickups.
The original ES-295 archtop was first introduced in 1952 as a hollow body companion to the new Goldtop Les Paul, which was then catching on across the country. That '52 ES-295 full body archtop originally came in a stunning Metallic Gold finish, cream P-90 "dogear" style pickups, and an ornate pickguard that was easily recognized on stage. But the ES-295 really caught on when Scotty Moore, a 20-year old guitarist from Memphis, accompanied Elvis Presley on his first nationally televised appearances in 1956. From then on, the ES-295 was--for many kids discovering rock n' roll--the ultimate electric guitar for stirring up trouble. With a tone that could be biting one minute and smooth the next, the ES-295 was the one "box" a pro could take to any show or any session and make an impression. Now Epiphone--the original House of Stathopoulo and every hardcore guitarist's favorite archtop maker--brings you the new Ltd. Ed. ES-295 Premium powered by the same original Gibson® USA Dogear P-90 pickups and available for a limited time only at Select Epiphone Dealers.
Premium Rock
The Epiphone ES-295 Premium features a Maple body with a Maple top finished with aged-style lacquer and is available in Metallic Gold, Walnut, or a Wine Red finish. The top has 3-layer Ivory/Black/Ivory binding while the body back and fingerboard have single layer Ivory binding. The Cream pickguard is just like the original with the same classic floral graphic. The Hard Maple neck has a comfortable and easy to play "1960's" SlimTaper™ D profile and is hand-set and glued to the body. The Rosewood fretboard has 20 medium jumbo frets, a 12" radius, pearloid Split "Parallelogram" inlays, and a 1.68" nut. The Sloped Dovewing headstock is the same profile seen on all of Epiphone's classic guitars from the 60s and features a pearloid "Epiphone" logo and "Crown" inlay. The 2-layer black/white truss rod cover has "ES-295 Premium" in white.
World Class Gibson® USA Dogear P-90 Pickups
The Ltd. Ed. ES-295 Premium is powered by two Gibson® USA Dogear P-90 pickups. For many guitar aficionados, there's no better single coil pickup than a P-90, which was Mr. Les Paul's first choice for his debut solid body guitar, the Les Paul. For the Epiphone ES-295 Premium, the rhythm position has a Gibson® USA Dogear P-90R and the lead position has a Gibson® USA Dogear P-90T wound slightly hotter for soloing. Each pickup has their own volume and tone control topped with iconic Gold "Speed" knobs with metal pointers. And each pickup is activated via a high quality Epiphone 3-position toggle switch.
Epiphone Rock Solid Hardware
The new Ltd. Ed. ES-295 Premium like all Epiphones carries superb rock solid Epiphone hardware including a "Pinned" Rosewood bridge with adjustable Tune-o-matic saddles and a rock n' roll-approved Bigsby™ B70 Vibrato tailpiece. For the Metallic Gold finish, the ES-295 Premium features nickel hardware while the Walnut and Wine Red finishes have gold hardware. Tuning is fast and easy with Epiphone Deluxe™ machine heads with a pro-level 18:1 tuning ratio. And all great Epiphones carry the House of Stathopoulo's heavy duty ¼" rim mounted output jack. And to top it off, the ES-295 Premium is tuned up at the factory with industry renown D'Addario® 10-46 strings. An optional hard case is also available.
The Ltd. Ed. ES-295 Premium comes with Epiphone's Limited Lifetime Warranty and world-famous 24/7/365 Gibson Customer Service. But the new Epiphone Ltd. Ed. ES-295 Premium is available for a short time and only through select Epiphone Dealers. Visit your favorite Authorized Epiphone Dealer for details and don't delay in adding the Ltd. Ed. ES-295 Premium to your Epiphone collection.

Ltd. Ed. Blue Royale Collection
02.01.2016
Featuring the Les Paul Standard, Wildkat, Riviera Custom P93, Emperor Swingster, Jack Casady Signature Bass, and the historic Allen Woody Rumblekat™ in a rare Chicago Blue Pearl finish.
Epiphone presents the new Ltd. Ed. Blue Royale Collection featuring six historic Epiphone models in a beautiful new Chicago Blue Pearl color finish along with distinctive "Royale" style Silver Sparkle binding. Each Blue Royale instrument features superb Epiphone pickups and electronics along with the rock solid hardware you've come to expect from Epiphone. The Blue Royale Collection includes the Les Paul Standard, the Wildkat, the Riviera Custom P93, the Emperor Swingster, the Jack Casady Signature Bass, and the historic Allen Woody Rumblekat™. The Blue Royale Collection is available for a limited time only at Select Epiphone Dealers. Here's an overview of what you'll find in the exclusive Blue Royale Collection.
Epiphone's long friendship with legendary guitarist and innovator Les Paul dates back to the early 1940's when Les, working late at night at the Epiphone factory on 14th Street in New York City, created one of the world's first solid-body electric guitars, nicknamed "The Log."
The Ltd. Ed. Les Paul Standard Blue Royale is powered by Alnico Classic™ humbucker pickups, each specifically voiced for rhythm and lead positions to deliver the warm, rich tone known around the world as the "Les Paul Sound." Epiphone-designed humbuckers utilize a double vacuum waxing process that ensures quiet operation free from microphonic hum and only the highest quality parts are used including ABS plastic bobbins, 1010 Cold Rolled Steel pole shoes and pole screws, Alnico magnets (just like original hand wound and sought after vintage pickups) and the finest magnet wire available. Includes a LockTone™ Tune-o-matic fully adjustable bridge and Stopbar tailpiece with Grover® Rotomatic 18:1 machine heads.
The Epiphone Ltd. Ed. Wildkat Blue Royale features the timeless Wildkat profile made from Mahogany with a Maple top and classic Epiphone styled f-holes. The glued-in Hard Maple neck is hand-set and has a fast and comfortable SlimTaper™ D-profile with a 24.75" scale and a 12" radius. The neck has a beautiful Rosewood fingerboard with pearloid 'dot' inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets. The body has Royale-style Silver Sparkle binding on the front and single layer Silver Sparkle binding on the neck.
The Wildkat Blue Royale is powered by Epiphone-designed P-90 Dogear Classic pickups, the world's best single coil pickups with Alnico magnets for precise articulation. Each pickup is activated via an Epiphone 3-way toggle switch for rhythm, lead, and a standard middle position for both pickups. Controls include Master Volume, Master Tone, and individual volume controls for each pickup with Black "Top Hat" knobs with metal inserts. Includes a time-tested Epiphone LockTone™ Tune-o-matic bridge plus a Bigsby™ B70 Vibrato tailpiece and Grover® Rotomatic™ 18:1 machine heads.
The Epiphone Riviera Custom P93 is modeled after one of Epiphone's most enduring classics, the Riviera. First introduced in the early '60s, the Epiphone Riviera's semi-hollow design has been a favorite of players from all genres and generations including blues great Otis Rush, Lou Reed of the Velvet Underground, and The Strokes' Nick Valensi, who have all found that the Riviera's legendary ES-body shape could produce great tones with any pickup variation. Over the years, the Riviera has been seen with humbuckers, mini-humbuckers, and P-90s.
The Riviera Custom P93s semi-hollowbody sound is powered by three Epiphone "Dogear" P-90 pickups with Alnico™ V magnets. Controls include 3 individual Volume pots (for each pickup) and 1 Master Tone topped with Epi Black "Top Hat" knobs with metal inserts. The all-metal toggle works as it would with a 2-pickup guitar with the rhythm position activating the neck pickup and the lead toggle position activating the bridge pickup. The middle pickup can be used in any position by adjusting its volume control. The Riviera Custom P93 Blue Royale comes standard with solid nickel hardware, vintage-style 14:1 ratio machine heads, an Epiphone LockTone™ Tune-o-matic bridge, plus a legendary Bigsby® B70 tremelo. And every Blue Royale guitar is strung at the Epiphone factory with world famous D'Addario® 10-46 strings.
The Ltd. Ed. Emperor Swingster Blue Royale features a hand-scalloped arched Select Spruce top with a laminated arched-back Maple body. The glued-in Hard Maple neck has an easy-to-play SlimTaper™-D profile and a 24.75" scale length. The Rosewood fingerboard has a 12" radius with 20 medium jumbo frets and features pearloid Emperor style "block" inlays. The Swingster is powered by Epiphone's new SwingBucker™ pickups, specially designed for the Emperor Swingster featuring classic Alnico-V magnets with enamel wire and over-wound coils for the perfect combination of warmth and bite. Two push/pull Tone controls with Black "Top Hat" knobs with Metal Inserts allow you to change each SwingBucker's output individually from parallel to series wiring, creating a wide palette of incredible sounds ranging from warm humbuckers to "quacky" single-coil type sounds and everything in-between. It comes with a Bigsby® B30 with original style "wire" handle and Grover Rotomatics™ machine heads with a pro-level 18:1 tuning ratio.
The Jack Casady Signature Bass was designed by Casady in collaboration with Epiphone and is the culmination of years of experimentation by the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame bassist to find an instrument with superb, balanced electric tone and the response of an acoustic bass.
The Ltd. Ed. Jack Casady Blue Royale Bass features a Maple body with a Maple top finished in a stunning Chicago Blue Pearl finish with the "Royale Collection's" famous Silver Sparkle binding. The hand-set Mahogany neck has a 34" scale with a Rosewood fingerboard, a 1.6535" nut, and Jack's signature on the headstock. The JCB-1 low impedance, low output pickup was designed by Epiphone and Casady and employs a three-position transformer to shape the frequency response. The 3-point adjustable bridge and classic style 19:1 ratio tuners are identical to what Casady uses on-stage. "The workmanship that's coming in on these instruments is just super," said Casady. "Every year I get two new instruments that I take out on the road. No ringers. I have none that are set up a special way or anything like that and they are great."
The Epiphone Allen Woody Rumblekat bass was the result of a historic collaboration with Epiphone and the late great Allen Woody, the legendary bassist for the Allman Brothers Band and Gov't Mule. The Allen Woody Rumblekat is one of the few pro electric basses available anywhere with a 30" scale length (compared to the "standard" scale length of 34") and features a 2.1" thick sound chambered Mahogany body and a 5-ply flame Maple top. There are no f-holes but the lightweight and sound-chambered body produces clear and complex low-end tones. The Rumblekat Blue Royale is powered by a NYR™ mini Bass humbucker neck pickup and a NYT™ mini-humbucker pickup mounted in the middle position. With their smaller size, narrow magnetic field, and unique design combination, the mini-humbucker produces a bright and focused output while retaining "hum-free" performance. As Bassics Magazine said in their starred review: "Using the tone knob and a little pickup bleeding, you can really get this thing to shake the walls in the lower register and have a nice open singing sound in the upper registers." With a vintage style 3-point Adjustable bridge and premium die-cast machine heads with a 17:1 ratio.
Like all Epiphones, the new Ltd. Ed. Blue Royale Collection instruments come with Epiphone's Limited Lifetime Warranty and Gibson 24/7/365 Customer Service. But visit your Authorized Epiphone Dealer soon because the Blue Royale Collection is available for a limited time only at Select Epiphone Dealers.
